We get it. This director things being weird and gross makes a good movie. What a fucking hack and a waste of time.
sharePlease explain what you mean by "self-indulgent". I find that people tend to throw that word out whenever a director tries to be different and creative rather than giving people what they see in every other movie.

shareOkay, now I've seen it. I disagree with you. I think the director definitely had something to say about how far people will go to be loved. He has a very bizarre sensibility, as is Abidjan by his previous films. I can't say I understand all that went on in this one, but that's okay. I'll just watch it some more.

I haven't watched this but I know all to well what it will be like given the reception.
These overly long and indulgent movies that turn off most viewers come about from time to time when directors think they're the second coming and nobody keeps them in check.
Damien Chazelle's Babylon is another I think, though I haven't watched that either.
