Nuances of source material will be lost I'm afraid
Luc Besson is not a master of subtlety. Valerian contains references to philosophy, politics, ideological thought and a very dry sense of humour. I fear that all of that is lost on mr Besson and his production company Europa. It will become a space opera with giant plot holes and crass humour. Before Besson starts he should be cross-examined by a committee of experts concerning his ideas and intentions.
