Valerian is older than Star Wars

Valerian first comic published in 1967 and George Lucas started writing Star Wars in 1973. Star Wars 1977 is not that original he took things from the comic Valerian and Flash Gordon.

so, what's your point?
George Lucas' Star Wars was heavily influenced by Hidden Fortress (1958, which predates Valerian)

My point is that people are saying that J. J. Abrams film of Star Wars The Force Awakens is a remake of Star Wars from 1977. and George Lucas did the same thing.

Lucas was influenced by several different things and they all culminated in the amalgamation that is Star Wars. Same story for Indiana Jones, inspired by adventure serials. Abrams on the other hand copied and pasted the original Star Wars movie, dumbed it down, and called it a sequel.

It always seemed like Star Wars had some DUNE worked in, too.

And George Lucas also copied Valerian carbonite. Darth Vader and the Millennium Falcon.
