Valerian is older than Star Wars
Valerian first comic published in 1967 and George Lucas started writing Star Wars in 1973. Star Wars 1977 is not that original he took things from the comic Valerian and Flash Gordon.

shareso, what's your point?
George Lucas' Star Wars was heavily influenced by Hidden Fortress (1958, which predates Valerian)
My point is that people are saying that J. J. Abrams film of Star Wars The Force Awakens is a remake of Star Wars from 1977. and George Lucas did the same thing.

It always seemed like Star Wars had some DUNE worked in, too.

I agree with you some aliens and ships were copied by george lucas and his workers when they were doing the first trilogy including the slave bikini of Laureline, but he didn´t stop there he also copied some things for the prequels
shareAnd George Lucas also copied Valerian carbonite. Darth Vader and the Millennium Falcon.
