City of a thousand planets? what the hell?

is based on the name of one of Valerian comics the empire of the thousand planets maybe they changed the name so people don´t confuse with the empire of star wars

And that is one of the best Valerian's episodes actually. The story is great. I believe this adaptation will be good.

My first thought is that it is probably about Point Central from the comics, or at least a similar place. Point Central was a massive hub where civilizations from numerous inhabited planets gathered - hence it COULD be called a "city of thousand planets". Now, this is just a guess.
Most likely it's derived from the album "Empire of a Thousand Planets" and could then just be the capital of said empire.

No and I love it. It's so corny and fanciful.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
