shareI'm not sure about SW, I like her as an actress and I think she's beautiful, but her in a Gregg Araki film feels weird (in theory). She doesn't seem the kind of actress that would be in a Araki film (aesthetically). I'll be more than happy if the film proves me wrong! I am really excited for this film. 2013 is shaping up to be a great year with this, The Bling Ring and Warm Bodies.

I am really excited about Sheryl Lee being in it at least! I haven't seen many of her roles outside of Twin Peaks, but I think this might be a great match. Anyone have any idea how big of a role her character would be?
I liked most of the charaters in the Descendants by the way, so the main choice seems fine to me.
Expiry223, I've read the book this movie is based on and I can tell you that Sheryl Lee's character May is a decent role, but she's not really in the book until the second half. If you've read the synopsis of the film, then you know it revolves around Eve Connors (Eva Green) disappearing. May comes in later in the story when Brock (Christopher Meloni) decides to start dating again. Obviously Sheryl Lee's role could be reduced in the film, but her character is in the book a decent amount of time.

shareI would be pleased if there was a little more than 11 years between the "mother" and her "daughter"... I'm afraid that the suspension of disbelief won't work this time for me. I don't know what Gregg smoked to cast Eva Green as the mother of a high school girl.

Sheryl Lee! Dale Dickey! Gabby Sidibe! Angela Bassett! Chris Meloni! This is a great cast. I liked Shailene Woodley in The Descendants and I think she's right for the part of Kat. Eva Green always seemed more mature than her age to me, so I think the casting is fine, especially considering that the mother is supposed to have kept her beauty and slim figure, so I think it will work. Kate Winslet played Evan Rachel Wood's mother in Mildred Pierce and it was believable...
