Lol shut up
shareYou're on the board of a Gregg Araki movie talking about indecency,I find that absolutely fascinating and hilarious.
shareI'm NOT confident about Gregg Araki, but this does have more serious, literary origins than most of his more "original" stuff and he is in his forties by now, so maybe he'll finally quit acting like a gay teenager who just came out of the closet and wants to shock everyone with SEX.
I've never know Eva Green to be anything other than an asset in any project she's been in, and whatever else you say about Shaeline Woodley, she is VERY cute and it certainly not going to hurt ANY movie if she chooses to get naked in it.
People continue to be surprised that 20 year olds of either gender and any profession don't have especially profound insights on anything when they're interviewed (and there's a reason they ask them about sex as opposed to, say, the affect of tight-money policies on economic recovery in the Eurozone). Besides, I agree wholeheartedly with her about nude scenes. "Hot" Hollywood sex scenes where the girl has all her underwear on are like gun battles where one guy has a water pistol and is going "bang, bang". Either don't play a cop at all or carry a real gun (with blanks, of course). And either don't do onscreen sex scenes at all (like Jennifer Lawrence), or have the guts to show your breasts and butt (like Rooney Mara or Elizabeth Olsen). Good for Woodley. Even if this movie totally sucks, you'll at least get to see her naked.

I'm a bit confused about the part of the Fashionstyle interview where they talk about her appearance on The Tonight Show. Fallon asks how she feels about being compared to Jennifer Lawrence, and she replied that "comparisons always lead to despair." The crowd grew silent, then began to boo. What am I missing? There's nothing negative in her reply, certainly nothing disparaging of Jennifer Lawrence. Maybe I'm missing some context. For anyone who saw it, can you tell me why her seemingly innocuous reply got such a negative reaction?
Last Movie Watched: Margin Call (2011)
I was wondering the same thing.
shareSounds like the audience misconstrued her comment as some kind of arrogant "can't compare Jlaw to me I'm way better" kind of attitude.

This to me is the really sad side of the industry - that we as a species have decided that unless women play along and expose their breasts, we won't take them "seriously" - little Shailene here thinks she's "in control" of how and when she does so, and in a way she is… however, actresses are increasingly finding the demand is there to be sexual, if not explicit, if they want to land those plum roles. I speak with insight because a friend of mine is working her way through Hollywood right now. She's insistent she's not going to jump into a nude role, however she has said she WOULD do so if the project had enough prestige to it.
It irks me as a man - just this week Emma Watson called on men everywhere to stand behind women for equality, and I think this is one such instance where I feel compelled to do so. Whether or not Shailene is "on board" or not is beside the point - she shouldn't have to be! Are you going to tell me had the scene NOT called for nudity that she would have pushed to have it!? I really just doubt that!
It's the bitter irony of feminism - these women tried in the 60s and 70s to battle the sexualization of women through Playboy and the like, and rather than holding firm and "winning," instead they have caved in, but have sought to "redefine" it as some kind of power move.
Sorry, ladies - it's still the same old "show us your boobies" mentality and it always will be!
Shailene is very much the next "it" girl - the other sad reality is that in 2-3 years she won't be able to get a lead role anymore. The majority of female actors spend 8-10 years trying to breakthrough, are lucky to get the aforementioned 2-3 years out of it, and then they will pop up a decade later playing the mother of the next "it girl" on the Lifetime network.

Most of us guys would rather see boobs than be preached to about it.
Two More Years! Impeach Me! $18 trillion!
Nothing is wrong with a naked body. If a woman chooses to be naked in a film it's her business. No one should feel forced to be nude, but no one should be ashamed to be either.
It's no antifeminist to say that. There are also plenty of great roles that do not require nudity. Not all nudity is sexual either (look at Jodie Foster in The Accused for one example). There's nothing classless about it, it depends on the context of the film.
And BTW Emma Watson is appearing nude in a future movie as well.
No one says anything about a man appearing nude in a film, that he's being disrespected. Definite double standard.
