"It's a trick I learned at school."

"You put the bottle in the freezer for a few minutes and it is chilled to perfection!"

...you needed to go to college to realize that putting a bottle in the freezer would make the bottle cold? :-|

"That is terrible advice, Ant1238."

reply

Maybe she meant, "at school" as in second grade?

That whole scene was awkwardly written. Why did they need the boy to get up and help two others move one bundle of paper to simply open a freezer and put a bottle in?

reply

I think she was being sarcastic. But yes. I thought the same thing about the papers.

reply

yeah, the bit with the papers, it seemed odd, but I think it was just a way to build suspense. At that point the viewer thinks something is up with the freezer, and that that's where Eva Green is, so they needed a way to get all the people in the scene around the freezer at once. I can't think of any other way this could be achieved, although the way it's done is a bit awkward

reply

OMG, there are so many other ways they could have done it.

reply

Also you would think if there were years worth of newspapers stacked ontop of it that would indicate to any normal person that the freezer was broken/not in use.

reply

That wasn't very clever. Beth all of a sudden says,The champagne is flat and the trick is to put it in a freezer. It's right next to them. How convenient for The champagne to go flat,Beth knowing the trick and The freezer which relates to her dreams. Pretty tacky. On the whole a pretty ordinary movie. Hardly any thrills or suspense. The end though was unexpected. The only good part was Thomas Jane who hardly had any role.

The only tricks I've seen for quickly chilling a bottle, was on Mythbusters, and it was to put said bottle/container in a semi enclosed area (cooler), and empty a fire extinguisher in to it. the CO2 will chill it in no time at all.
So I don't know what 'trick' she knew, but what a terribly written scene.

reply

I know nothing about champagne, so I just assumed when you chill it makes it less flat??
