Eva Green's character American?

They never pointed out if Evie was from somewhere else, and it was pretty much implied that she was American. But I wonder why Eva Green didn't adopt an American accent for her character. Her French accent was pretty obvious. Great acting by Green, by the way.

her accent is french?? Wow , thought it was English lol....learn something new everyday

She's French nationality. Born in Paris. I can pick a slight accent in her English.

Since the film doesn't really tell you where she's from, it doesn't matter too much. Green's accent wasn't TOO pronounced, which implies that she could have been a child elsewhere and moved to the USA at a young age. Many people have unplaceable accents like this, due to moving around a lot in life.

Ms. Green's accent is more British than French anymore, given that she has lived in England (and played several British roles) for many years. As for her American accent in this film, it wasn't perfect, but it was passable (same thing with "Dark Shadows"), and I'm sure it will improve if & when she starts playing more American roles. Time and experience are all she needs in that regard.

I thought her accent was very distracting in this - poor casting choice. she's a good actress but didn't fit well in this movie.

Never noticed an accent.

I think Eva Green's accent was believably American, but it reminds me of Lizzy Caplan's accent in Masters of Sex...more put on/trained than natural. I haven't seen her in much, but now that I've been reminded that she was in Dark Shadows, I wonder if she is a bit overrated as an actress. Both performances felt over the top and tone deaf to the point that I felt sorry for her scene partners.
