that girl from that sappy cancer movie trying too much too soon to shed her teen image by gettin nude havein sex and cussing up a storm so she can "be taken seriously". terrible!

Except "Havoc" was NOT GOOD, while this was based on a very well-written novel (not even really a young adult novel).
There's nothing wrong with an ADULT actress shedding her "teen image" eventually. Besides, 30 frickin' years ago it was pretty common even in TEEN movies for the actresses to disrobe. Teenagers have sex, after all, and they're usually naked when they do it.
Shailene had nude scenes in "The Spectacular Now", which was much more of a traditional teen movie. She explained that it was simply REALISTIC for her to be naked in a sex scene. God bless her. She's an appealing little cutie, quite talented, and she comes off as more mature than half the puritanical idiots in America these days.
