Rewatched season 1

So I recently decided to return to Orphan Black but forgot where I left off... So I'm starting from square 1 with the first season. I am picking up on a lot of minute details knowing how certain things will unfold. However, I can't help but feel but for Aynsley, Allison's nosy neighbor. Allison overreacted and ruined Aynsley's marriage and then proceeds to not help her as she chokes to death. Prior to this scene Allison seemed like a decent person.. now I'm not so sure... Also, the actor playing Paul is ATROCIOUS. His poor acting sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the amazing cast.

He is not miscast though, as the character is supposed to be a guy who hides his real intentions.

reply

But I've seen him in a couple other bit parts. Still the same. Stone face. Not much range of emotions. But then again, he just plays the heavy body guard, assassin type dude.

reply

It sounds like he's not miscast in those roles either. I believe he is an actor with a very limited range.

reply

I think the actor who played Paul did a good job.

Agreed and agreed. But who IS a decent person really?
And Paul is way too handsome and waaaay too buff for the rest of the cast and can only do blue steel.

reply

Yeah, that was cold as hell what Allison did to her neighbor-especially when it turned out that she wasn't doing what Allison thought she was doing. And yeah, the dude who plays Paul was obviously cast mainly for his looks and banging build. He does have a nice low-key intimidating presence complete with genuinely creepy eyes, though.

reply

Really? You're surprised that an actor was hired for their good looks?
That's 90% of working actors.
If Brad Pitt looked like Steve Buscemi, he'd be working at Burger King.
