Emmy for Best actress - Tatiana or Evan Rachel Wood

Who do you think will get the Emmy next year for lead actress - Tatiana or Evan Rachel Wood for Westworld? Who do you think will deserve it more?

reply

Isn't this an absurd question given that Orphan Black season five won't premiere until April?

reply

Why absurd, I'm sure Tatiana's performance won't change that much next season. And April is still before the next emmy's so I would think she'd still qualify.

reply

It is absurd to ask us to compare an existing performance to a nonexistent performance. Who wants to go out on that limb? Not me.

reply

Golden Globes are coming up in Jan.

So Tatiana's last season performance will be up against Evan's this season performance. So there is a direct comparison there for awards.

reply

Well, if you are talking season four of Orphan Black, that's different. I was considering offering to watch Westworld, but I see it is on HBO and we don't currently have it on our cable.

reply

I think Evan Rachel Wood will win it for her performance in 'Once and Again' (1999-2000). Then they will finally bring out the final season on DVD, the bastards...!

The Players of The Game are the scum of the earth.

reply

If only. That was the best season!

I'll always love Mischa Barton for that season too.

reply

I only watched the first 2 episodes of Westworld, can't judge yet, but wasn't that impressed.

Tat will be nominated for sure, and she will always deserve it more than anybody, but i am not sure if they will give her back to back emmy.

reply

I think she'll be nominated too. No more snubs I think since she won. I think there have been many people that have won consecutively so I think it's possible.

I think both are great actresses. Too bad both can't win.

reply

Is ERW garnering a lot of praise for her performance? I've been watching but nothing in the show has knocked my socks off. I also think it's too much of an ensemble show to win a lead actor/actress award, not enough material for any one actor.

I think Robin Wright will win one before House of Cards wraps, I think that's such an iconic female character that she should eventually be awarded for it. I'd be surprised if Tatiana goes back to back but then I was surprised that she won the first one so my opinion doesn't mean much.

Really? I take Claire as a character who is always trying to break out of the shadow of her husband Frank. Her most attractive trait is being less evil than her husband. This apparently helped her in contract negotiations because she made the case that her character is more popular than Frank. That seems like a weak case to me...who isn't more popular than Frank? I do think it is very funny that Robin Wright conned herself an equal salary to Kevin Spacey, especially given that Doug is a more important character.

reply

I don't watch the show but I'm always glad when a woman gets paid the same amount as a guy. It's usually the guy that is overpaid so glad the woman is this time.

ERW is garnering a lot of praise for her acting. I think it's closer to an ensemble but not as much an ensemble as same game of thrones is.

It is just tough for me to take seriously a comparison between Robin Wright's third fiddle wife character to Tatiana Maslany playing FIVE leads plus minor characters. The irony was lost on those who keep expecting Robin Wright to win in spite of being up against not only Tatiana Maslany but two former winners.

And check out this comment I just found:

Disgusted that Lizzy and Vera lost out to that … whatever it is! Nobody watches that show!

This is the kind of idiocy TM has had to put up with all these years.

reply

Well, you've certainly got strong opinions on Robin Wright and Claire Underwood. I can't say whether she deserves an Emmy or not, I stopped watching after Season 2. I just have a sense that people will think she's due one before the show ends.

reply

The same argument (she is due) was made for Elizabeth Moss in 2015...it didn't help her. There has been similar talk with respect to Michelle Dockery...people were even saying Maslany would not even get nominated for that reason.

I know you think I am blowing smoke...but think of it this way: Claire Danes won a couple of Emmys, and she is THE lead in Homeland. Viola Davis won an Emmy, and she is THE lead in How to Get Away with Murder. Robin has not won an Emmy for House of Cards, and the lead is...Kevin Spacey. I see a pattern there.

reply

Evan because she portrays an original character. Tatiana's is a rip off of the character in Dollhouse. Plus, all these clones that are supposedly all different seem exactly the same to me, which is not what I think they are going for.

The problem with Eliza Dushku's Dollhouse character was that she played a nobody who was always someone else. I can't identify with that.

Most people say that about Ari Millen's characters, but not Tatiana Maslany's.

reply

"Dollhouse" isn't anything like "Orphan Black", I really can't see how you say it's ripoff. Eliza didn't play clones and she never had to play against herself, Tatiana is sometimes on screen 4 times at once. IMO I also disagree about Tatiana acting the same, she is very different!

Sorry for my English mistakes.

reply

Even child actors have done that. It's cool but it's not astounding.

reply

When has a child actor played as many roles?

reply

I'm sorry for saying this as i probably will sound bitter, but you're a troll. No other explanation, lol.

reply

Well they are going against each other for the People's Choice Awards.

So maybe that will be a precursor to the Emmy's?
