IMDB shutting down message boards in February

They're shutting down the boards permanently on Feb 20th. Does anyone know of another option for discussing Orphan Black? I'm not on social media and I don't think the imdb-FB page really lends itself to a 'topics & threads,' type forum, plus I don't understand the point of Twitter or Instagram.

There's reddit.
But I don't really like reddit's style.
Well, we don't even have the chance to discuss the last season here...

Thanks for the info, I just took a look a reddit and the format is very similar to the old (really old) Yahoo boards. I like the imdb style much better myself, because it's much easier to follow the threads. Yes, it's going to be strange not automatically coming here to discuss the new season. :(

I hang out at http://forums.previously.tv

Since they're shutting down here, I'm tempted to post ban-worthy stuff.
But there are enough lunatics doing that already, and it's just not a pretty look.

Thanks for the suggestions! The free forums and previously.tv both sound like great options. I guess I'll take a look at both and see how it works out. I've only left one snarky remark (on another board) for someone who is particularly nasty. Just 15 more days and it will all disappear into oblivion. ;)

You can all try and sign this petition.

This is THE only place where i can discuss about all the shows that i'm watching. Twitter or fb won't cut it for me. I hope they reconsider this decision.

reply

no not really...
reddit is too all over the place and sxit posts are constant

Head to the new forums. There's not one for each and every show and movie but the main categories are covered.

Sorry I didn't realize it didn't apply my signature when I posted from mobile and it was in my signature.

We should make one for Orphan Black and Maslany then.

If you go to the suggestions board on imdb2 you can ask for a separate board for whatever show you want. They're happy to help.

I recommend Fan Forum!

Here's Orphan Black's sub-forum:

"IMPORTANT: IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content."

So says IMDb's "*beep* You, John!" letter.

I would start a petition if my contempt for the management of IMDb were not so intense. They don't deserve to know how deeply they have *beep* up[/spoiler].

The petition would use their own self-aggrandizing words:

"IMPORTANT: IMDb used to be the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. But then it decided to become authoritarian and insult the core of their user base. This was the end for IMDb, who should have done a focus group or an informal poll of members before arbitrarily pulling the plug on the one aspect of the site that gave it LIFE."

Love is like breathing. You have to take some in and let it out to live.

Gutted. Will miss chatting with all of you about the show.

I use Reddit for discussion as well, and the AV Club reviewed tend to have several hundred comments so can be quite good for discussion.
