I liked this film but I wonder if it would have been more interesting if styled differently. The relative abundence of well know faces in supporting roles reminded me of the old Studio films and with darker lighting and a moody soundtrack it might have been a contender as a true noir. Not sure what you would do with the requisite JS fisticuffs but it's perhaps interesting that (according to box office mojo) it did particularly well in France.
shareIt worked for me. Especially the front scam he plays for the guy who is trying to marry the Sofia Vaguerra(sp) character. It's brilliant! I never saw it coming till it was over.
I've watched this a few times and enjoyed each time. It's tight & straight.

Because this film is definitely noir in subject matter, but very weirdly lit for a "dark" movie - like light is always leaking in from the edges, "cheering up" the otherwise noir-ish setting
It fits with Statham's version of this character and with Statham's screen persona in general.
I've always been a fan of "Heat," the novel, and NEVER liked Burt Reynolds's version.
This version, though, is like "Heat" as a Statham film - hard to explain but it feels "organic" to me
