Great acting, excellent fight scenes, HORRIBLE writing!

I saw it last night and the movie was a mixed bag... mostly because the script was horrendous. It was just too lazy and very little of it made much sense at all. Character of that "Cyrus" guy was terribly written. The guy can act but his arc was so bad and just unrealistic.

Anyway, it's worth renting for fight scenes alone. Statham will always be one of my favorite action stars.

I was just thinking the same thing. The 3 or so action scenes are SUPERBLY done, better than some theatrical action movie scenes. Which makes sense since they were done by the infamous Corey Yuen, known for choreographing stunts in the transporter, the expendables, old Jet Li stuff, and many many others. However yes, the other 95% of the movie is boring and terribly written.

The part with the understudy tech guy was undercooked and added nothing except a deus ex for the ending. The bad guy wasn't very interesting, and that 20 minute gambling scene in the middle that went nowhere was definitely not needed. It was like a weird mashup of the transporter and roger dodger...

Well said! I agree completely. And yes, Corey Yuen's awesome and his fight scene choreography is one of the best!

I loved the whole "Nick doesn't use guns" angle. It was interesting and made fight scenes novel and interesting.

The ending, with Cyrus giving him money, was terrible and yes, it was a deus ex machina. I wish they had rewritten that whole character. And I wish the pacing was faster.

Overall, it's a good popcorn movie for action fans!

entire script was a joke...the movie doesnt have anything going around it

its like a 90 minute improvisation

and action starts at the 39th minute??Thats way too late for an action movie

I thought the fight choreography reminded me of "the Transporter. They were the only part of the film that was any good.

Same fight choreographer.

I don't know. I liked the script. Personally think this is a stylish exercise that has well composed fight sequences where you can clearly see the punches and bruises. The soundtrack is also fitting for the Vegas setting. I don't see how the mediocre Mechanic remake has a higher score than this. This film is far more polished and entertaining.
