pushing 40???

Statham says at one point in the film that he's pushing 40! Wtf! Pushing 50 is more like it. Hardest thing to believe in the entire film.

I do see that 'vanity move' quite often, where some character's age is referred to in the story and my immediate skepticism makes me look up the actor's age and when the movie was made and do the math.

One of my favorites was 'Friends of Eddie Coyle' where Robert Mitchum utters the line, "Hell, I'm almost 45 years old!" and the sound doesn't match the lips (the dub is "51"). I had to look it up, Mitchum was 55 when it was filmed, and those were 55 booze-filled, chain-smoking, late-night tomcatting, multiple divorces Hollywood years so he looked 65.

But they are almost always 5 years younger than the actor's real age, it is almost distracting. The audience shouldn't have to be told the character's age, it should play out.

Until the public found out a few years ago, Jason Statham claimed his birthyear was 1972 when in fact it was 1967.
