The Big Blackjack Game (no spoiler alert)
When Nick is betting Blackjack, we know that he needs one particular
card. The writer/director tells us what card he needs which is an insult
to our intelligence. The movie should have remained silent except for sound
of cards flipping. People who watch this movie don't even have to understand
Blackjack rules because we can tell if Nick wins or loses by his facial
expression/body movements.
Sometimes the dialog is too wordy - silence can be powerful and at same time
credit us with intelligence.
I enjoyed this movie. I still can't find Anne Heche but rumor is that she
plays a waitress at the Silver Spoon diner.
