1) What was the possessed Josh doing to Renai when she was lying on the couch after being knocked unconscious by the 'mother'? He seemed to lean over her in a very ominous way and then the scene cuts to another.

2) Why did Parker's mother insist that killing could extend the time Parker could reside in Josh's body?

3) Who was knocking on the other side of the room where Parker's victims were kept?

4) Carl wrongly assumed that the spirit who directed them to the hospital was Elise. When the spirit tried to kill him with the chandelier, he realized it was malevolent and possibly Parker's mother. Does that mean Parker's mother was in Elise's house and spying on them? Why?

5) Was young Josh's encounter with dying Parker in the hospital the trigger for Parker haunting him after he died?

6) I don't understand how Josh's DNA doesn't match up? Parker still had to use his body to kill Elise right?

I'm not sure about the rest but for your last question:
At the end of Insidious 1, after Elise takes the picture of Josh, you get a brief glimpse of his hands. His hands look old, like they'd belong to someone like Parker Crane ;) That explains why the finger prints didn't match up.

For number 1), I'm pretty sure he was sniffing her. It's probably what Parker did before he tortured and killed women.
