Not sure what mood they were going for, but that scene kinda took it out of horror and into depressing drama territory!!

@ OP - yeah that was pretty sad to see how psychotic his mother was to him when he was a little kid. Pretty *beep* up.

I found that scene very sad and depressing, as well. Then, I grew a pair. Feel much better, now.

It was very depressing as to even know this goes on daily with children. How parents abuse children like this or in anyway is beyond me.

In this particular case the mom was obviously severely mentally ill.
