what a bunch of *beep* I've seen scarier boxes of kittens. The story is all over the shop, and the only jumps come from an over active orchestral score. If this is the best contemporary horror has to offer, horror is dead.
shareCompletely agree, the movie is plain stupid and not at all scary. The over enthusiastic score just becomes irritating and it just goes for cheap clichés and the usual horror tropes. Really poor movie.

shareyes, but making boat loads of cash is not an argument for the films quality. Transformers 3 was the highest grossing worst reviewed film of all time. It is unadulterated rubbish, but it made a ton of money.

us now debate the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. As for the movie, it had its moments. Some jump scares, not as good as the first. Forgot in T-minus 10 seconds.
While surely there was some dumb stuff going around (commented on other threads), in fact this movie goes against cliches of the genre.
Best examples:
Movie #1: The first thing they do is move to another house
Movie #2: When Loraine runs around the house looking for the ghost, she turns the light on in every room she walks in to
Against?
#1: Poltergeist 2 - they move to another house! Made in 1986
#2: Really, would anyone really not turn the lights on in a house if they couldn't see where they were going? If it was the cellar with a torch then fair enough, but this is a weak example of breaking cliches!
The fact it made lots of cash just shows how little movie goers appreciate a good story these days and watch any old tripe.
^ Eh. I've seen plenty of horror films where people stumble around in the dark rather than turn the lights on. The Paranormal Activity movies are notorious for this. Also, there are always exceptions to the rules.
I also appreciated the fact that Renai didn't hesitate to tell Josh that something was wrong as soon as weird stuff started happening. Usually, characters dismiss objects moving and instruments playing themselves as their imagination.
Yes, the over-used instrumental "shocks" annoyed the hell out of me, they just crank the volume suddenly and keep doing it.
Also, that bloody baby walker toy ...just take the batteries out of it - those things do go off on their own though so I didn't think that part was frightening, just annoying.

Totally agree. Lame movie. The screaming lady ghost was annoying. Not scary, just stupid. Then again the original was no prize either. Darth Maul was the baddie... already seen him in Star Wars.
share100% agree. What a waste of time - I watched it to the end in hopes SOMETHING scary would happen, but alas, not. Might as well watch a Disney movie or something.
shareI got through half way and i almost turned it off, but i was hoping it was going to get better......nope. The only thing that really scared me was when the tittle of "Insidious" popped up with that terrifying sound, i had my headphones set on high lol
5/10 I've seen worse.
