I don't get that part, does it mean that they could be haunted by people from the year 3000? Or that when someone dies they could haunt the child versions of themselves - can the ghosts in this movie change the future by going to past and messing around back there like in back the future? Could they stop themselves from being born? It's confusing
it means that the further is a place outside of linear time bro.
this actually is one of the better films at making the case for the existence of ghosts in general. if they are relegated to a plain outside of time, they may be trying to interact with a physical place that no longer has anything to do with them. ie, an old woman haunting a house she lived in decades ago without realizing it's now 2014 and a new family lives there.
its appears to be a new trend in paranormal movies, they now have timetravel both insidious 2 and PA:TMO both have it so expect it to keep popping up from now
why do you think there are real stories of ghosts from 200 years ago hunting places or doing things that no one does in modern time (Like soldier ghosts doing stuff)
It makes sense that for ghosts there is no time. Besides the ghosts in the movie only went back in time to events that already happened. not to future events

Er. Because they died 200 years ago, they're not time traveling into the past before they died and changing things like the guy in this movie

well im just saying this concept is not so far fetched in the real world there are theories about astral time traveling. some people say they travel to the past when they do astral projection. that they visit ancient Egypt and stuff. OBviously that's all crazy stuff, but im just saying that those theories are not new to this movie. They have been around. the movie just chose to show what other people have been talking about for a long time
Time is 100% a man made concept. Humans use time as a way to catalogue past, present, and future events. Here on earth we use the sun and the moon as a way to document time. In the further, time does not exist because it has no purpose. The further is on a totally different dimension, yet it's still everywhere "around us". Think of it as a person needing to put on infrared glasses; without these glasses, the person would be unable to see different wavelengths.
Time travel is a difficult concept to portray in any movie because its hard for people to understand that time was created through imagination. Insidious 2 is probably the best movie ive ever seen to correctly portray this idea.
Time is not 100% a man made concept, only in the way we numerate and interact with it... but time has a substantial effect on all things, regardless of man's presence, therefore it cannot be a man made concept.
