movie needs more "show and tell"

I'm left unedified regarding some major plot elements due to meagre visual or verbal clues. The plot instead of being "fleshed out" was stripped to a bare skeleton. For one, what did happen to Renee? It was something horrible, surely, but then why not show it, so we can empathize along with Anne during her brutal act? Also, what was it that Anne saw in her husband's head wound that made her realize just then that Lou had killed him (again, knowing this would also help the viewer empathize with her brutality). I also feel, as someone previously had mentioned, that Renee's character goes from competent wise-for-her-age 13-yr-old to helpless hysterical girl. Also, what happened to the ranger caught in the wolf traps? His partner doesn't do anything at all to help him (surely she carried a trap opener in her truck, in the middle of bear territory!). He already seemed pretty weak and she's going to let him keep bleeding for at least another half-hour or more! And the wolf, he was actually a, red herring?

Yeah, it's a really stupid movie.

It tries to go for shock value but fails miserably.

The daughter was presumably raped and murdered, since Lou mentioned that the mother would be joining her daughter soon, and he was about to strip down and rape the mother. So it's presumed he raped and murdered the daughter who turned into a hapless wimp watching her mother get chocked unconscious by Lou without bothering to get the rifle on the floor.

There was nothing about the head wound that would make Anne think Lou did it, other than that he was the only one out there. HOW he got the jump on Joe -- who was hidden away and keen on watching Lou's killing ground, especially with Lou waltzing around with his loud walkman going -- I have no idea. The movie gets retarded in that area.

The ranger caught in the wolf trap presumably dies, since by the time the others get to him he's either died of shock, trauma, or loss of blood.

And yes, the wolf was a red herring.

I really wanted to love this movie, but I hate it so much due to how frustrating the second half became.

Still don't understand that the guy's leg weren't tied and he still didn't try to kick or headbutt the woman or pull himself up with his hands. If someone would be in a similar situation, they definitely wouldn't wait patiently to be flayed alive but fight like hell.

Yeah the movie was really stupid.

One kick or headbutt and she would have been knocked unconscious with a concussion.

But they needed their feminist revenge porn in there to show a "stronk wahmen" get revenge, which completely killed the movie.
