I don't know how to describe this movie.....

It was good but it wasn't good. haha. I don't know, maybe it was a bit TOO dramatic to the point of being unrealistic/cheesy...but that's also what gave it the entertainment value. I mean, are we supposed to feel bad for the guy(Costner) because the fans and some of the people in his organization want a player who he doesn't want and he CHOSE to be a general manager? It's like watching a professional poker player struggle, are you really going to feel bad for that gambler(that made the choice to gamble?) They play it out like Costners character is some sort of "good family man" who's just trying to make a living and it's hard. But in reality, he's probably making a boatload of money to do his gambling(which is pretty much what a general manager does.)

But in the big scheme of things I suppose it does show what it's like to be a general manager and does a pretty good job of it. But I think in REALITY most people would understand where Costners character is coming from when he makes his decisions, and he would consult the other people BEFORE making his decisions. lol. It's like unnecessary drama that could have been avoided, but hey, it makes for a decent movie.
Because the problems seem to stem from the GM(Costner) making decisions without letting anybody else know in the organization what he's doing and why he is doing it. lol.
And when people ask, "Why didn't you consult me first?" He just replies with, "I don't have too, I make the decisions around here."

The movie is good, but it's basically just showing the obvious. It's tough to be a GM, yeah, but that's why you get paid the big bucks.

In a sentence you could describe this movie perfectly. "Triumph of Roger Goodell's Will" because this is an NFL propaganda movie plain and simple. It was just as much about how great and morally upright the NFL is as it was about the draft.

It is a decent film but more for football fans.

I'm not American and don't really follow NFL, but any sports followers whose teams use a draft to introduce new players into a "league", should find things to interest them in this movie. It's really not that difficult to follow, though there are some really suspenseful twists and turns along the way. The movie has a great cast with Kevin Costner in fine form and I really liked Jennifer Garner's Ali, whose important character ensured the film didn't end up too macho for its own good.🐭

Like the owner? who is basically threatening him with being fired if he doesn't "make a splash."

He didn't consult with the others because he wasn't given time enough to do that. He asked for a hour and was given half an hour.

I think people could rightfully sympathize with Sonny's character, because he obviously was very passionate about football and his team. He wanted to win a superbowl for his father, but his father died too soon.

Well, isn't it a given that any movie which has been given permission to use the NFL name will have a script which will reflect favorably on the NFL ? I think it's safe to say that there won't be any NFL-approved movies made any time soon which will depict concussions, domestic violence, or pain killer usage.
