We saw more of him in this movie than we have in the last 3 weeks, when he went into hiding over the battered wife incidences.

Agree with the OP. In that scene, I remarked to my wife, "He's getting cheered here? He always gets booed." Whether there was "a ton of booing" or not, the predominant sound was cheering and that was both pandering for Goodell's cooperation and unrealistic.

It took more special effects than in Avatar to make it look like the crowd cheered.
