Yes, the idea of a dog with a blog is absurd and dumb, but honestly this show is pretty funny.

The parents are both stupid, and not the typical Disney Channel dumb character like London Tipton and Paisley in Ant Farm, but a more natural humor. Them always forgetting the youngest daughter is funny, and how they both are super immature at times is funny.

The youngest daughter, Chloe, is just young and reckless. The son is also pretty dumb, and then the middle daughter seems to be the only smart one besides the dog.

All I'm saying, is you could take away the talking dog and this family could have their own good show.

I don't really care for it. It seems like they try to hard to make it funny by making everyone stupid. Like you said, Avery's really the only smart one in the family. And even then, G was much funnier in SWAC and GLC. I'll admit that Tyler is usually funny, but it's probably my least favorite live-action Disney Channel show. And I only say live-action so I don't have to acknowledge Fish Hooks.
