Is this a 'Brady Bunch' family?

I just went through all four pages of postings for the show and didn't see this addressed so here goes:

Before Bennett and Ellen got married were they widowed parents or was each divorced? Ellen and Avery have never mentioned Avery's biological father; Bennett, Tyler and Chloe have never mentioned Tyler and Chloe's biological mother.

The very short plot summary on the show's main page doesn't explain and I see nothing elsewhere on the page.

Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.

Maybe the special wedding episode in a week or two will answer the question. It was clear from the first episode of "The Brady Bunch" that both parents had been widowed. I wonder if that would have been revealed if "The Brady Bunch" were a brand new show today.

All three kids also call their stepparent "Mom" or "Dad" like the Bradys do, which is a good indication that Tyler's birth mom and Avery's birth dad are no longer in their lives (for whatever reason).

Are we even certain which parent Chloe originally belonged to? I can't recall if they ever said...

Chloe is Tyler's real sister. Avery was an only child.
