The last minute of the show was well-done
Dog with a Blog had always been the weaker show of the Disney bunch since the beginning for me. But I still caught a few episodes anyway and I liked quite a few Season 1 episodes. What caught my eye was the lessons they taught... which they pulled off better than Girl Meets World does today at times (no stupid classroom to rely on). And it was funny... at times.
So I guess you could have considered me a fan by the end of Season 1. Then Season 2 had a good opener and a good first half overall. Then it started getting a little boring, but I still liked how it was. It felt like a normal family show with normal issues, all with the talking dog to witness and blog about it. Yes, I'd forget that there was even a talking dog and I wouldn't really mind it.
Then Season 3 came along... Oh God. Were the writers drunk when they wrote these episodes? Why did STAN have to have a love story? And... get married? I feel like that was all just a tool to bring in the puppies. But they could have done so without all the weird love story stuff. And it started feeling less and less like a normal show (I am aware it never was, given the talking dog... but I'm talking issues-wise).
But I caught the last few minutes of the finale anyway. The musical number was super weird and wasn't funny. Once they went to his final blog entry [of the show], that's when it felt like good old Dog with a Blog. This is how I pictured it ending: a sweet moment with the whole family and Stan.
This may seem weird, but I enjoyed that last minute more than I enjoyed Good Luck Charlie's last scene... which was INCREDIBLY rushed. A clip show of all the video diaries (or simply Teddy saying "Good Luck Charlie" repeatedly) would have been nice. Yet it was just "Wow this was a crazy 4 years! Good luck Charlie!" Cut. Dog with a Blog was at least a little slower and the music added to it.
