this movie had me almost till the very end.. then it all went to s#ite..
SPOILERS AHEAD..
why in god's name would the cook expose his wedding band around his neck to the hijackers as they were leaving the ship?
such idiocy on the part of the cook ruined the entire movie for me and I instantly stopped caring about what the hell happened to him.. effing FOOL.. he and he alone was responsible for the unfortunate chain of events that unfolded (i.e., captain being shot)..
what a needless waste of a life..
had that idiot cook guy shown just one iota of common sense, they would've all all survived unscathed.. but no,m the dumb arse had to flash and gold ring in these hijackers' faces as if to taunt them with it.. FOOL, damn fool!
also, couldn't the captain or even the idiot cook himself have asked omar to intercede on their behalf with the hijacker that had snatched the ring in order to get it back peacefully? why suddenly take it upon himself to create a needless scene with a volatile, GUN-WIELDING thug?
I muyst say, unlike 'captain phillips,' this movie had me almost empathizing with the hijackers in a strange way and I cannot even begin to express why.. whereas viewing 'captain phillips' filled me with so much rage and hatred for the hijackers that I couldn't wait to see them all shot in the head or violently beheaded..
it is fascinating how two fairly similar plots can bring out two such opposite reactions/emotions in the viewer..
it wasn't the fall from her 16th-floor penthouse that killed her, it was the landing
