Morgan Freeman's science kick
He releases not one but two movies - in the same year, within 3mths of each other no less - that basically drives at digitized intelligence.
Seems he's on a mission or, at least, has an agenda.

I doubt it. He does have an interest in such topics (just look at his "Through the Wormhole" series on Discovery), but an agenda? He's just a hired actor. He can only take the jobs offered him and he has little creative control over the plot.
Both movies gave him the opportunity to work with some first rate talent in major Hollywood productions. That's all a movie actor can ask for. The resulting movies may not have been first rate, but it's always a crap shoot.
While I'll go along with you, I still have to contend, just a smidgen.
A-list actors
- are often approached to do roles
- pursue roles
- turn down roles that don't interest them for whatever reasons
So it's a little more than just "taking what they can get/what gets offered to them."
Maybe, as an extension of his science show, he told his agent to "get me scripts that resonate with this theme".
At any rate, the real question might be "who cares?" to which I have no response other than it was something I observed and wondered about.
