a bit disappointing? obviously

I don't remember the whole movie and my whole impression but it was a bit boring compared to the other twos but it's understandable. The first one was two young people with the whole lives ahead and new ideas sprouting from the head and kind of enjoying their intellectualism. The second one, the two have more imaginative dialogue and the setting is very lively and fast paced since we travel the streets of Paris together. We were left with suspense. Did they stay together or not. Both of the films were about people getting to know each other, catching up etc. So it was fun to watch.

The third one was more about current moment and a bit forced. There wasn't the tension of two meeting for a short time in a foreign place. The whole vacation in Greece as a married couple is just not the same as people who happen to run into each other. Because they lived life together and there wasn't the spark of the short relation and trying to tell everything that happened and what they hope for.

The whole fighting was obviously exhausting too. Yes fighting is natural and always happens but a fight that even questions the whole love they shared and the time they lived together? That's just too much. Of course they needed something since happy people talking about happiness the whole time would not make a good movie. Also the way they talked to each other "Putting up with your *beep* "You bitch about this and that" Yeah people say it's harsh reality but not all couples fight that way or cheat. They already had their disillusioned by life moments in Before Sunset so I felt so much was repetitive. Jessie knew love can go wrong marriages sometimes don't work bc of losing inner connection, Celine was a disaster but they had some upbeatness and imagination. The whole male/female subject humanity going so and so.. teenager on intellectual high talk was also enough and I could see how Celine would resent Jessie's writer lifestyle.

Also like many others I disliked how Celine was so out of character. Celine while neurotic was also a gentle person with big heart in the previous films. Yes her idealism was more for saving the world and large humanity but with maturity and having kids I would imagine her to be more down to earth at this point and be understanding of Frank needing to be around his son. It's good to care about big humanity issues but life begins at small level and Frank is Jessie's son but Frank is also a person in need of a father. So I cringed when Celine would mock Jessie contemplating the move and tell the friends that he wants to move all the way to Chicago to "babysit" his teenage son. PEople think teens are all grown up but no Celine, teens deal with huge complicated things and need adult attention just like small twins! (actually small kid life is much simpler than teen...)

I just expected more growth from both characters instead of stereotypical masculine/feminine debates etc...
