What an excellent trilogy!

Yesterday, I decided to check out the first movie. I was shocked how good it was, gave it ten starts on Imdb, something I very rarely do, if ever.

Today, I watched the two sequels, as well. I have enourmous respect for Linklater, Hawke and Delpy! While the films writing did get praise, I don't understand how there were no big awards nominations for the acting here! These two are acting their hearts out. The long hotel scene in "Before Midnight" alone deserves all the praise in the world!

Ethan Hawke got nominated for an Oscar for "Boyhood" and not for "Before Midnight"? What an absurdity.

The writing is so good, the complexities of a relationship are so well portrayed! Ahhhh.

I completely agree. Never have I seen movies that really bring forth so many profound messages, delightful dialogue and natural acting.

I'm so happy for it's writing nominations but you're right, their acting was phenomenal. Their chemistry is was really holds the films together and makes it a masterpiece. They definitely deserved Best Actor and Actress noms.

I concur.
I really think most of the Hollywood big wigs that nominate films, writing, acting etc have their heads up their asses!

I had the same experience years ago, long after the second installment came out. This is geniune labor of love, what an experience for audience who understands. It doesn't matter if the movies win any awards, watching them is rewarding.

Exact same feelings. Just finished watching before midnight. Watched the first one last night and the other two today.. God, this trilogy floored me. Calling it a masterpiece would be an understatement
