What kind of books?

What kind of books you imagine William Borgens (the dad) and Sam (the daughter) write? Which real book titles you've read that you think may be similar to their books? To make it easier, you can put book titles here; or if you can't think of any, just write the genre, you may explain why

1. Suit Monkeys by William Borgens? (respected novelist, won some awards,...)

2. Under the Pink by Samantha Borgens? (lots of sex and profanity, cynical view about love and marriage, got a starred review from Publishers' Weekly)

Suit Monkeys was the last book he wrote, and he hasn't written anything else since his wife left him. I assumed it was a quirky story about a businessman that discovers some important fact about life through humor and romance.

Under the Pink
I'll agree with you, the character probably finds the idea of romance an illusion created by society. Also considering her favorite book is Dear Mr. Henshaw, I think family dysfunction is part of it.

The writer William Borgens reminded me somewhat of Ian McEwan. Maybe he could have written something similar to SOLAR.

I imagine the writer Samantha Borgens to resemble Leigh Stein, of THE FALLBACK PLAN. She's young as well, cynical, and the book covers a lot of the same ground as UNDER THE PINK supposedly does.
