After Neeson and Kinnaman escape apartment buildings (looking for the kid) they run into another building (kinda derelict looking) with seemingly no way out.
The detectives and cops go in looking for them, but find no one.
Next thing we see is Neeson and Kinnaman outside again, running someplace else.
How did they escape?
They didn't seem to show exactly how.
IIRC, Neeson and Kinnaman went into a room then looked surprised. It seemed as though it was because there was no way out but then you're right, they next appear somewhere quite far. Maybe they discovered a drain of some sort, but if that was the case then why didn't the police see it when they went in?

Exactly. This seems like a huge cheat on the part of the filmmakers.
The characters run into a building, with no way out. Armed swat team follow them in, and there's no one there, but no other exits either.
Yet the characters have somehow, magically escaped.
It annoys the sh!t out of me. They set it up to make us think there's no way out for the characters, yet somehow magically there was.
Does no one have an answer for this?
