My hope is that they won't drag the Chief mystery out over the whole season. But I am happy to be watching new episodes again. I even like Joan's blonde hair. She should go super short before it's all over.

Hoping they will get high enough ratings to make them change their minds about cancellation.

From what i’ve read, Elementary has been a cash cow for CBS, financially one of The Eye’s most successful series. There may be other concerns that are bringing it to an end. I think this season has reinvigorated the show, and Jonny Lee is at the top of his Sherlock game. Maybe they want it to out with a bang and not with a whimper.
