Um...Genghis?

Why isn't he credited or mentioned anywhere in credits/message board topics, etc.?

Because he's dead and never appears in the show as far as I can tell.

Marco went to visit him in the 2nd episode.

I don't remember that.. Are we talking about Genghis Kahn? because he died before Marco was born.

reply

Yes. You're probably right...I got that impression from the beginning and then thought that Marco went to see Genghis, as well as Ariq. Sorry! I should read my history as well as watching it! 

He has appeared in flashbacks. For example the fire-sparrows.

Ghengis is Kublai's grandfather and is long since dead by the time Marco Polo hits the scene. However, they did show him at the beginning of season 2 when he releases the sparrows with the lit cotton flames on that siege. He was the one addressing the child.

That is who I thought he was. Then other comments confused me. Thanks for clearing that up. Still...no credits.

To be clear, there is an opening sequence with a flashback to a conversation between Chinggis (Genghis is the anglicised version of the name of the original great Khan) and his two grandsons: Kaidu and Kublai. While Genghis is the name that is accepted by Mongolian people in general conversation, it's far more respectful to refer to him as Chinggis (as the series does).
