Battle scenes are much similar to low budget Martial Arts Movies. It's nothing like
Medieval warfare. Mongols had massive Army. Here only represent just 20 or 30 people fighting without any sort of battle formation. The show should have follow The Lord of the rings ,Kingdom of Heaven or Vikings fight scenes. I know it's not a documentary but should have been bit reliable.

You weren't there. You don't know..

Game of Thrones did it better with Battle of the Bastards, and even then it was a medieval fantasy. In Marco Polo, they almost placed no emphasis on recreating realistic fight scene. Heck, even the movie Mongols did a better job on that regard.

I'm really tired of watching a film/show where the main character can beat 5 or more opponents easily. There's nothing cool about that, it's really cliche.

Game of thrones did it better? Yes with their latest battle, but what's with the others? You can hardly compare these two based on the budget.

Well the budget is incredibly different for these shows, each episode of Marco Polo has a 9 million dollar budget, The Battle of The Bastards espisode of GOT was rumored to have a 30 million dollar budget, so they were able to make it seem like a bigger battle.

Vikings? You know Vikings' battles are 10v10 team deathmatches right? Vikings spoilers They retreated in the last episode because Ragnar's ship got defeated by Rollo's ship. The other ships didn't even do a thing

Doing massive battle scenes costs money, and they don't have the budget to do that. Funny you should mention Vikings though, since all of their battle scenes have the same problem. It's usually Ragnar plus the other main characters plus maybe a dozen extras.

My biggest problem is not with the numbers as much as the actual fighting. Having all of the Mongol characters dismount and engage in sword fights was just silly. Mongols didn't fight on foot. They considered a dismounted Mongol to be a dead Mongol. Infantry fighting was strictly for the auxiliary forces that were drawn from conquered lands.

Didn't they show the massive army in season 1? And didn't the vice regent spend all of season 2 manipulating events to pull that army south so that the Khan would be exposed and weakened? Or did I watch a different show?

Lol Vikings? I love the show, but it is nothing more than fantasy with fantasy battles. Randomly screaming shoeld wall and having 100lbs women overpower 200lbs men does not equal realistic fighting.
Kongdom of heaven? Yeah, why not. Besides the fact that trebuchet don´t shot kilometres and people tended not to stand on each other while fighting. The amount of severed archilles tendons would have been overhelming.
