What was the purpose of this episode? Way too early in the series to waste an episode on character development only in my opinion.

She was suspended and on the verge if bring charged with murder hinging on the psychologist's testimony.
While the episode was a notch below the pilot; it at least addressed the repercussions of her criminal acts last week.
personally she should have been given a ticker taped parade but that's disgusting American law for you.
