I don't know what he claimed to think.

I think he's a good partner. They have such big differences.

You didn't notice the part where he was writing, and they were doing a voice-over, and he was talking about psychopaths and made a comment that Catherine shot that guy (in the 2nd or 3rd episode, I think) to see if she could do it or how it would feel or something like that.

So you want to know if he was right about her shooting that guy to test herself?
He probably was. But he wasn't talking about psychopaths, he was talking about killers. Big difference.
