As of this week, he, for all intents and purposes, shot someone dead for being annoying.
Although he's always played in the grey areas, I feel like this crossed a line there's no coming back from.

shareI don't think it was really "for no reason" though. I definitely see how it appears that way on the surface. But let's recall: During his brief marriage to Norma, Chick tried to blackmail her. He's now planning on exploiting the family. And he's just an all-around loose end. Letting him live would've been giving him the power. Romero's an escaped convict, Chick would've used that to his advantage to force Romero to help exploit the family further, and so on.
