Insurance rates would be off the roof if this was real(spoler)
And the towing of those pickups off the property and out goes the window with friendly neighbors if you let them live, plus the awkwardness of "yeah she/he tried to kill me".

shareIts the biggest flaw of the movie!
Its that man again!!
Totally.
Their house is completely trashed, but insurance wouldn't cover a dime, cause it happened on purge night.
Small business would be doomed.
The gap between the rich and everyone else would get bigger.
Purge night would be a disaster for the economy.
Thats the firs thing I thought out when they explained the purge.
All of the businesses getting broken into, restaurants trashed, banked robbed. Or maybe they hire security, you would have to pay me a boat load of money to fend off your store for 12 hours. The amount of guns and bullets I would want stockpiled....
For sure. I think back to Detroit's problem with Devil's Night back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. People would set fires to buildings on October 30. Can you imagine Devil's Night except the Fire Department wouldn't be responding to the fires for 12 hours? Entire cities would burn to the ground.
