Why not just leave the country for the day?

They know it's coming.
Or just take a boat or cruise and get n international water

That's what I would do 

Only those with money could afford to leave. It seems like a system set up to disadvantage the poor.

Thought was explained rather thoroughly in the first act.

What yolandajenell75 said.
It's presumed that a lot people do actually leave.
Maybe airports no longer have available flights, because a lot of people book flights because of purge.

For example, you cannot book a train during xmas seasons in my country, because they are constantly full.

Very good point! Heck when I was watching the movie last night I came to the conclusion that if I was living in that situation I would have BEEN moved out of America...permanently!

Sir Ian McKellen? That dude must be knee-deep in boob.

Me too hoochiemoochie! I would've been gone with my family. And their security system was a joke. And couldn't they just set their house on fire? Or fire wasn't allowed? I have to re watch it, it just finished on TV but I'm pretty sure its on demand. Has anyone seen part 2, is it good?

Anyone know of more movies similar to this? Or any good horror movies not too well known, foreign, old, new, indie etc?

I'm in the mood for horror flicks its chilli and rainy here so yeah. Any suggestions?

I'll be asking oin another board as well. Thanks.
MYRTLE SNOW WILL NOT BE SILENCED!!

It's not really much of a horror movie, but I'd like to suggest this one:

The acting isn't world class, but the story is very interesting and really different. The entire setting has a lot of parallels with reality (austerity and poverty for the masses, whilst the rich get richer).

They Live has always been one of my guilty pleasures. Love when the aliens think those wearing the glasses can see them.

because people would loot and destroy your house?

Considering U.S. politicians are devoid of original thought, and tend to copy ideas from other countries, it is likely whatever country you might go to visit would also be Purging.

The movie's America is (also) a totalitarian state. There's no reason to think they would allow a mass exodus of people at any time, especially before the purge. In addition, it does seem like the rich are happy with the system (the protagonist remarks that violence "doesn't happen often in this neighborhood" or something like that, presumably the worst stuff takes place in the working class areas), while the poor can't really afford to leave.

If USA were such an "American Dream", with less than 1% of unemployment, pretty much everyone would have a decent jobs and homeless people would be the ones being targeted, right? (at least in the first film, not including personal vendettas). So I guess most USA citizens will have money. Not millionaires, but enough to live well.
If I lived there, I'll definitely have a panic room and lot of guns, if I can't go to Mexico for the day (I speak perfect spanish and I was born in a small weird country, so I'm obviously not afraid of mexicans!).

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.
