Who is Jeff?

The character depicted himself as browbeaten, but the scene itself took an ironic POV, playing off our knowledge of Teddy's relationship. The tone of the music cue reinforces this, as does actor's slightly comic facial expression when he puffs himself up, supposedly taking charge and throwing off his wife's undue influence. And finally Teddy's line "Well thank you, Jeff. We're all real grateful." "We," implying all fellow browbeaten men.
Yet all Jeff's wife did was research and give him an ad he could use to negotiate. But Jeff pulls it out reluctantly and says "My wife..." like she's to blame for his own discomfort negotiating. Like she's bossing him around. Like he hasn't participated in his own way, but has merely been acted upon, had an agenda imposed on him. Like it doesn't take two to tango.

He did do that, didn't he... well, Jeff might be a bit of a tool.
I didn't take Teddy's "we" response to indicate husbandly solidarity, though, I thought he meant "we" as in the business. With a bit of a sarcastic edge to it, since the truth is he couldn't care less, which Jeff missed entirely even though Teddy had already told him to go ahead and go to Walmart or wherever it was.
Very fine acting in this minor but telling scene.

Subliminal seduction?
I'm convinced Teddy has some kind of business degree, and may have learned this tactic there.
Or maybe he's just fed up and doesn't even know his bad night is about to get worse.
Yeah, I did think of that interpretation too. Jeff had just said "my wife ain't the boss of me," and Teddy drily replied "If you say so." So Jeff reaffirms "I do. I say so." The emphasis on the two dudes standing in solidarity was what led me to see "we" as continuing that context.

I hate price negotiations, if people wanna do that then they can go to the fng bazzar, if there is a price listed take it or leave it, that being said, prices in general should be lowered to take this into consideration,
whne i was in my youth and working at a coffee shop and the newly immigrated Arab types would try and barter with me for the price of a cup of coffee, that isn't how *beep* works over here
