What I'm afraid will happen in finale (speculative spoilers).....

With the often dark writing of Ray McKinnon, what I'm afraid of is that it will be shown Daniel did not murder Hannah....

Then, that prick Manny is going to kill Daniel, but Daniel is going to somehow try to free him from his act somehow....and in dying, Daniel will finally find peace with himself and the world....

just a fear...I don't think Ray McKinnon will give a happy ending...

There are more options for the ending than the strict binary of "happy" or "dark" allows.

McKinnon will end the series with a measure of both. Bittersweet.

If anything, the fear of foul play and violence should come from the other direction. Viewers should fear Daniel hurting Manny instead of being the other way around. As always, Daniel will never be the true victim of crime. Daniel is always the perpetrator of crime.

Crimes committed against Daniel or his well being,

Purgury - George Melton, Trey Willis
Rape - 5 inmates including Jelks,
Attempted murder - Jelks on the row
Attempted murder - Bobby dean and the lynch mob
Attempt to pervert the course of justice - trey Willis planting Georges wallet phone and gun, after wiping them down
Sexual Harassment - Manny the Wanky
Conspiracy to Pervert the course of justice - Roger Nelms Senator Foulkes
Conspiracy to cause blue balls - Chloe,
Unlawful imprisonment - the state of Georgia, and the county of Paulie

some you may dispute, others are irrefutable as crimes
