One of the best shows of the year
Rectify, for the short, immense length of its underseen run, was a series that both indulged in and reinvented pulpy Southern tropes. There was a horrific crime, for which the protagonist spent nearly two decades in jail. There have been questions of true innocence or guilt, and seedy characters popping up to drop threads about an underlying mystery. Yet there was a gentleness and sincerity always at odds with that more familiar menace. The balancing between these two impulses came to a head in the fourth and final season of the series. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/features/the-best-tv-of-2016/
