I.just.dont'.get.it. I thought for sure since this was the last season, it would finally get a nod, but noooo. Still stuck in our own little corner, an oasis, but still only a corner. Sooooo disappointing!

stranger things was an homage, from Et, to It, to stand by me, to poltergiest up to the Twin peaks ending i honestly though Vangelis did the music until the first episode was over the biggest problem is stranger things is over hyped, yet barley anyone has heard of Rectify, i have done my part and shown it to 5+ people,
that wouldn't include the final season though as is hasn't finished airing,
stranger things was overrated,
who knows maybe with the emmys cleared from thrones for a season rectify will still get its break best drama, best writing on a scripted drama, best actor aden young, best supporting actor clayne crawford,
come to think of it, i don't think rectify was eligible for this years golden globes as it hadn't finished airing on account of it being aired later then its typical summer slot, so either season 4 ill be eligible next year, or because of its timing completely ineligible
I think the Globes are notorious for their slights and noms. They've been corrupt in the past and probably still are. A lot of these awards go by popularity as well, but they'll deny it.
The worst recent examples in my opinion are putting "The Martian" into best Comedy/Musical category for a win. They did the same with "The Tourist," that Johnny Depp/Angelina Jolie mess. Lady Gaga winning best dramatic actress was another jaw-dropper. They're so blatant it's like they don't even attempt to appear credible. Yet people still show up.
None of the so-called critics in their organization have any credibility with me.
I liked Judd Apatow's rant about entering The Martian under "comedy."
Apparently they've changed that rule, and some others, like studios no longer able to entertain voters between the announcement of nominations and the ceremony.
Still, in the scheme of things, especially right now, I can't get even remotely worked up about what awards my fave shows and actors get nommed to or not.

Wth? That certainly isn't fair. I wonder if it's because Rectify has a lower number of viewers than other shows? Or because it's on Sundance channel, but I don't know what that would have to do with it. I'm obviously not a wealth of knowledge when it applies to Golden Globes, Emmys, etc.
That absolutely stinks. I would say how I REALLY feel, but I'm sure I'd get deleted. What Ava_T posted was interesting though.
An indie show watched by a VERY SMALL audience on a channel most people have never heard of is not going to be an awards hit.
While the Emmys have occasionally recognized shows late into their run (The Americans, Friday Night Lights), the golden globes are not known for that.
It's just an awards show. As much as I would love to see Rectify nominated, when you only have 5 slots per category, not everything is going to get in. And I was never anticipating Rectify to get nominated anyways so this honestly means nothing to me.
The only indie show that I can think of that got consistent Emmy attention was Breaking Bad. Before it broke through to mainstream attention in S5, it was chugging away for 4 seasons on critical acclaim alone. The viewing nos were so low back then that AMC might've axed it if not for the insane critical love. Now aren't they glad they didn't!!
Awards bring attention to the cast and crew, and gives them the possibility for new work and more money. Also, it's nice to be recognized for your work - like the Pulitzers.

Yes, and I have been working in the private industry and have never received any kind of recognition, why should the people in the entertainment industry? It is just an additional rewarding, but they are already paid for the job.
Don't get me wrong. I want Rectify to win a lot of awards, but I have been disappointed year after year, seen so many unworthy professional be recognized (E.G. Lady Gaga's Golden Globe), etc. that I don't take awards seriously anymore.
It would be amazing for shows like Rectify to get that recognition, but that's not gonna happen, this is a world of injustice, there are hidden interests, it's all about money and promotion that some shows can't afford just to be nominated.
In my humble opinion, awards should help the visibility of quality products that haven't been able to find a big audience, but that's not how they work and they try to highlight TV shows that are already working more than fine (like Game of Thrones) so that the own awards get some publicity, people talk about them, etc.
It's not about arts. It's about politics. Politics and money.

That's irrational. A great many industries, perhaps the majority of them, have awards and awards ceremonies, from small to large-scale affairs, often combined with trade conventions. Just because your industry hasn't recognized you doesn't mean people in some other industry shouldn't be.
I don't take awards seriously anymore.
Anymore? Why would you have ever taken them seriously? They're candy, not a nourishing meal.
The one thing entertainment awards shows have ever provided that has been worth taking seriously (modestly) is the Academy Scientific and Technical Award -- which is given at a separate event, mostly off-screen.
