question about this game, never played it

im considering this game for one of my consoles but im not sure if id like it, how is its gameplay? is it like the batman arkhams and metal gear solids, or a fighting game like mortal combat or streetfighter? ive never really liked mortal combat games, I saw the ending of this game on youtube and it looked interesting, but I don't know what type this is.

what is the story behind this game? does it follow something like the justice league episode "a better world" or the movie "crisis on 2 earths"?

someone for the love of god please show a little mercy and kill me

It's a fighting game similar to Mortal Kombat (Same developer for that matter). Storyline wise, it is set up to make it appear it takes place in the normal DCU, until after the first act when it lets on it's happening in an alternate world when Batman and Joker end up pulled into the other universe.

Gameplay wise it can be fun, but can get old kinda quick. Really don't recommend online play unless you play against people you know. Ranked play has way too many cheap players to consider it worth while. The S.T.A.R. Labs missions are a nice distraction, having their own play styles and appearances from characters (and um.. pets) not found in the regular game.

I don't know if I agree with your assessment of the game. If you're a fan of DC this could be your first fighting game that you really get into. I never went online in any fighting game because people get too ridiculous to deal with, but in this game i managed to work my way up to a respectable 50% win rate. The interactive objects and the fact that "cheap" tactics like spamming superman's heat vision can work to beat more experienced players is actually a good thing imo. It gives novices a chance in the often oppressive world of competitive online fighting games.

If you learn a few simple combos that can get to maybe 20% damage and learn a few different characters strengths and weaknesses, you can do ok enough to have fun online, without spending days on days going crazy trying to learn 40% combos for every character.
