Songs seem a little weak

I like musicals, although this one seemed a little boring and long winded to me. But the thing that really stuck out to me as a musical is that the songs weren't all that memorable. Maybe I'm just not that familiar with them, I've only seen this movie twice?

Memorable is subjective. I've loved this score for a long time and frequently get the songs in my head. It's a score I go back to and listen to different versions on a regular basis.

Maybe I just don't appreciate Sondheim. I didn't care for Sweeney Todd either.

Its alright to not like something :) I for one think the only good thing that Webber has written was JC Superstar, and I routinely get chastised for that! Haha.

I LOVED Sweeney Todd and the composition was marvelous imo, but I agree with you about this film. The music was mousy and annoying half the time. I enjoyed Meryl Streep's singing as well as Cinderella's mother in the tree but other than that, my wish was for the cast to stop singing.

i think some amitoor wrote the songs😝

Sondheim isn't known for memorability in his songs. In his whole long career, I think that only 'Send In The Clowns' and 'Everything's Coming Up Roses' are the ones that people can remember at all.
