Was Expecting A Crazy Twist

(Spoilers)

…that never came. Was thinking thru half the movie she was the actual killer and he was misdirecting to protect her & what we were seeing were things he was just imagining or to throw off the audience. Also why did he make reference to the “psychotherapist” that she was schizo? I thought that statement was the dead giveaway that she actually the one killing the men. That twist would’ve made this a helluva lot better. That she was using these men to satisfy desires her husband couldn’t provide and then killing them when she got what she needed from them. Would’ve honestly been a lot better than what we got. No man would go through this much trouble and risk this much. Just a stupid premise.

Yeah, that would have been a hell of a lot better than what we got. I really didn't understand Affleck's character. Either enjoy your wife messing around or just stop the non-sense.

me too. i kept waiting for some shoe to drop, but it never happened.

i think there was TONS of opportunity to make this way better, but the writers dropped the ball for some reason. it started out feeling a lot like a harlan coben story, but never really materialized. also i already pointed out how there were so many implausibilities in it that greatly rose the cheese factor.

coulda been way better

Maybe Patricia Highsmith is to blame. Don't know.
But why did he keep the wallet?

reply

Yes taking the wallet made no sense... I guess so they could have that stupid ending... but that shouldn't be the reason...

reply

That would actually have made it much better... That she had this urge to kill, which would explain why Affleck's character accepted her going from one man to the other... maybe even helping her clean up after the murders... because he loved her... also when you decide he is the killer why show it in the middle of the movie at least keep us guessing... maybe make us at least suspect the wife... This movie could have been so much better... but anded up being awful.
