Enough Already

I think they've milked this franchise long enough, it's been going since Manhunter in 1986 and the last 2 films, Hannibal and Hannibal rising were pretty uninspired.

reply

They were pretty damn good, in fact.

I love the "Hannibal" movie! So completely nuts and off the rails.

But, that was it. I thought that the "Hannibal" TV series was a lot of moody wackiness, starring an actor who seemed NOTHING like the character, at all.

That definitely should have been the last of it. And, it's unfortunate that Thomas Harris, who wrote the great "Black Sunday," got himself locked up in Lecter and stopped writing anything outside of that.

Amen.

agree that both Hannibal flicks sucked d***

Red Dragon was good.. haven't seen the OG '86 film based on the book though.

reply

"Manhunter" is great!

reply

i feel like Brian Cox would be an even creepier Hannibal.
yah i should watch it already.

Red Dragon is underrated, I think. I suspect that its connection to Brett Ratner has lead to it not getting the respect it deserves.

Manhunter is an interesting film and, as you probably know, one of Michael Mann's early works. It's not on the same level of Heat or The Insider, but it's definitely worth a watch.
