Great Camerawork - Doesn't Match the Tone

I was so torn on this film... it was so amazing in spots, so real, so gritty and raw and didn't feel forced, then it does something cartoonish where Costner is interviewing 'bad guys' about pasta sauce... but with the camerawork and look, it was given credibility... but doing odd comedy.

Besson's "The Professional" was one of the most amazing films I've ever seen, easily in my top five... there were hints of that in this film, but I kept forgetting McG is directing and can't help himself with the goofiness, like it's Charlie's Angels or something... like, really, a prom scene shootout? Why in the world would the main bad guy be hanging out with his partner while at his partner's son's prom? Makes NO sense. And what are the odds?

There were moments of greatness too, with how a father will do anything for his daughter... the home movies really worked for me... but then the goofiness kicks in and ruins it.

Stunning camerawork but with McG at the helm, he couldn't run it into the endzone to be a great film.
