He's still terminal, but continued doses of the experimental drug supplied to him by Amber Heard will greatly extend his life and the quality thereof for an indeterminate period of time.
Actually, I'm not sure if the drug can fully arrest his condition or just hinder it, but Amber Heard told him it would only extend his life.
It's a much better prognosis than the initial 3-5 months he was given, but any way you cut it, the guy still had metastatic brain and lung cancer.

By the time the film ended, I no longer cared who lived or died in it. It really was a waste of my time and the resources used to make this film in my opinion.
